Services to honor and celebrate the life of April Beth Tubbs will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Rice Funeral Service.
April Beth Stanford was born Sept. 28, 1969 in Fresno, Calif. to Paul Stanford and Virginia (Roden) Stanford. At the age of six, the Stanford family moved to Wilburton, Oklahoma where April was reared and educated. She loved attending church camp and at a young was baptized.
In 1986, April moved to Claremore to be closer to her mom. It was just a few years later when she met Scott Tubbs and the two were married in 1991.
Their marriage was blessed with three children, Emily, Scottie and Jenifer. This young family moved all around the world and even spent more than 3 years in Germany. The family made their way back to Claremore in 2008 and has been home ever since.
April loved being a mom and her family was her pride and joy. She was an amazing mother and always supported her children in their activities and interests.
She could cheer her kids up her hugs, famous spaghetti, or sing them to sleep with "Jesus loves me." She strived to be a better person with the welcoming of every new day.
April received two Associate's Degrees from Wright Career College in Phlebotomy and Medical Transcription. She worked as a travel nurse with Davita Dialysis until her health required her to medically retire.
She was a two time breast cancer survivor. Although she was unable to work, her passion for helping other only grew.
She enjoyed swimming, tanning, getting her nails done, bowling, watching movies and snuggling up in her robe and fuzzy slippers and reading a book by her favorite author, Nicholas Sparks. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandbabies.
She is survived by her children, Emily Hollingsworth and husband, Alex, Scott Tubbs, II, and Jenifer Tubbs all of Tulsa; son, Matthew DeVille Wolfe; mother, Virginia Stanford of Yale; grandchildren, Constance and Cameron Hollingsworth; brother, Jon Stanford and wife, Stacey of Vancouver; sister, Kristine Stanford of Tacoma, Wash.; nephews, Ryan and Reid Stanford; niece, Sarah Stanford; special friends, Darrel Compton and Rachel Straub; lifelong friend, Scott Tubbs and wife, Niki of Claremore. Also, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
April was preceded in death by her father, Paul Stanford; friend, Una Duran and step-father, John Rucker.
