Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery in Claremore. Visitation will be 5-7, today, at the funeral home. Betty passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018. She was 82.
Born in Claremore, OK on August 15, 1935 to John N. and Delia M. (Casey) Kennan, Betty was raised and educated in Claremore and graduated from Claremore High School in 1953. On May 31, 1953, Betty married the love of her life, Richard F. "Jack" Tuggle, in a ceremony at Sequoyah Baptist Church. Their union was gifted with two sons, Richard and Rusty.
Betty excelled at being a wife and mother. She contributed to the family finances by working as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. A career that lasted for over 30 years. After retirement Betty became an avid traveler. Some of the most memorable trips were those with her sister. In later life, and thanks to her granddaughters, Betty was able to continue to travel. They took her to Destin Florida, Opry Land, and to Washington DC, just to name a few.
A lady with a lot of interests, Betty appreciated any kind of card game and reading. She loved sneaking off to the casino for a game of bingo or to play the slots. Family gatherings were always a special time for Betty. Thanksgiving and Christmas were two of her favorite holidays. She could always be counted on by family to fix some of their favorite dishes; but most of all she just enjoyed her family being together.
This wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be missed by all whose life she touched. Betty is survived by her son, Rusty Tuggle, grandchildren, Brandy O'Mary and husband Scott, Heather Pack and fiancé Robert Patton, Dusty Tuggle and wife Megan, great grandchildren, Noah, Natalie, and Norah O'Mary, Kaden Pack, Jace, Ava, and Brysin Tuggle, and Amber, and Elisabeth Patton, sisters, Mildred Reavis, Charity Arrowood and husband Don, a plethora of nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 49 years, Richard "Jack" Tuggle, son, Richard "Tootie" Tuggle, sister, Ruby Barrow, and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
