A graveside service honoring and remembering Brian Richard Wilson will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Highland Cemetery in Inola with Mike Schroeder officiating. Brian passed away Wednesday evening, July 19, 2017, after a three year battle with cancer (which he won). He was 55 at the time of his death.
Born September 18, 1961 in Claremore, Brian was the son of Jerry and Oma (Warden) Wilson. Brian was raised in Inola, graduated from Inola Schools, and played football for the Inola Longhorns and participated in FFA. After high school, he attended Tulsa Welding School and began working as a welder and cattleman. Brian loved working with cows, they were his pets. They were so trusting of him that he was able to load his entire herd with a single cattle cube as encouragement.
Brian loved watching basketball and other sports, and was a life-long OU fan. On June 1, 2009 he married the love of his life, Renee, whom he had met while at a Claremore High School basketball game that her daughter Mandy was playing in.
He loved hunting and fishing (and telling his sons how to hunt) and going to his favorite vacation spot, Rocky Mountain National Park. He was very proud of his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving family members include: wife: Renee (Hairston) Wilson of Claremore who never left his side and was his constant caregiver; son: Tyler Wilson and his wife Molly of Castle Rock, Colorado; three daughters and sons-in-law: Brittney and Nick Kila of Owasso, Kendel and David Stocker of Claremore, Mandy and Heston Crutchfield of Claremore; his parents: Jerry and Oma Wilson; seven grandchildren: Bryer Stocker, Griffin Wilson, Lainey Grace Wilson, Hudson Crutchfield, Cooper Kila, Everly Wilson, and Sawyer Crutchfield; one sister: Michele Reeves and her husband, Rocky of Inola; mother-in-law: Dee Hairston of Claremore, as well as many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to be made in Brian's name to Med City Foundation to assist in covering his medical expenses. Link: https://www.givemn.org/fundraiser/in-support-of-brian-wilson5754dae15ba7f
