Daniel's Story

Daniel Wayne Richardson, 77, of Westport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2018 at his residence in Sebring, Florida. He was born on May 6, 1940 in Westport the son of Wayne Dean and Florine (Carder) Richardson. Dan graduated from Sandcreek High School in Westport in 1958. Dan loved the game of golf and even recorded a "hole-in-one". Dan also enjoyed fishing and hunting. The last year of his life was filled with health issues, but he persevered, trusted in the Lord Jesus to get him through, surrounded by both family and friends throughout. Dan was loved by many and will be missed greatly. Dan married Carolyn S. Robinson on June 13, 1959 in Columbus, Indiana. She preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 1968. On December 2, 2005, Dan married Nina J. Henson at the Christian Church in Westport, Indiana and she survives. Dan spent most of his life in the Westport area working as a semi-truck driver, he reitred from MHart Trucking. Dan and Nina spent several winters in Florida for the warmer weather, golf, cards, dancing, and a large group of Florida friends. They also enjoyed an Alaska Cruise together along with many other trips to visit family. Survivors include daughter, Jennifer Gail (Rodney) Morris of North Vernon; sons, Brian Dean (Karin) Richardson of Coatesville, Gary Wayne (Debbie) Richardson of Greensburg; step-daughter, Peggy (John) Combs of Vallonia; step-son, Jon (Jenn) Henson of Tiverton, Rhode Island; sister, Marilyn Rawlins of Gig Harbor, Washington; brothers, John (Nancy) Richardson of Benicia, California, Bill (Retta) Richardson of Crawfordsville and Ben Richardson of Rushville; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded death by his parents; first wife; sister, Roberta Fromer; son, Timothy Ray Richardson, and great-grandchild, Naomi June Daugherty. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral home in Westport, Indiana. Pastor Tim Tallent will officiate the service with burial to follow at Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.bassgasper.com .
