A funeral ceremony honoring the life of Denford James "Denny" Hull is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at the Sequoyah Baptist Church. Interment and full military honors will immediately follow the church service at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Rice Funeral Service has been entrusted with Denny's care. The Hull family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home and also one hour before services begin on Friday at Sequoyah Baptist Church.
Denny was born in Tulsa, Okla., on Sept. 15, 1930, the son of Olney and Elizabeth (Bushorr) Hull. He passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016. at his home in Claremore.
He graduated from Tulsa Central High School with the Class of 1948, and enlisted that year with the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam Conflict during 1966 and 1967 and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and retired as a First Lieutenant in 1968. Following retirement he served as a Blue and Gold officer for the United States Naval Academy assisting prospective midshipmen with their applications. He also earned an associate's degree in music at Claremore Junior College.
Denny established the Denny Hull Piano Service in 1973 and quickly became the regular piano tuner for homes, schools, and churches across a three-county area. Over the years he has tuned and restored countless pianos and pump organs to their best condition, and enjoyed knowing and visiting with hundreds of clients. This well-respected business will now continue under the trained hand of his son Sam Hull.
Denny was a devoted family man. He was also meticulous in each of his careers, both of these roles enhanced by his strong faith in God. He was a faithful member of Sequoyah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, pianist, and caretaker for many years.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Hanford Hull. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Hull of their home in Claremore; his brother Don Hull and wife Linda Sue of Cleveland, Ohio; his children: Samuel C. Hull and wife Patricia, Matthew Hull and wife Deborah both of Plano, Texas; Denise Luddeke and husband Dan of Spring Hill, Florida; and Daniel Hull and wife Di Anna also of Plano; his grandchildren: Elizabeth, Rebekah, Dan, Jacqueline, David, Andrew, Kathryn, Kristin, Sarah, and Samuel; and his great-grandchildren: Levi, Dakota, Jonah, and Silas.
