Born Feb. 24, 1935 in Holdenville Okla. to parents: Lee Virgil and Edna Mae (Olden) Robbins.
When Don was young, his family moved to Tulsa. He attended Will Rogers High School but transferred to Owasso where he received his high school diploma. Don retired from American Airlines after 34 years of service working as an aircraft mechanic.
He ran track in high school and continued to enjoy running for most of his life. As his wife remembers it the fastest guy in Oklahoma, caught the slowest gal, when Don married the young Martha Chase on Nov. 15, 1952.
Don belonged to the Tulsa Early V8 Ford Club. He traveled to many car shows all over the country and won numerous trophies and awards. He won the prestigious Dearborn award several times, mostly for his favorite car: a 1942 yellow Ford convertible. Don's resemblance to Elvis Presley gave him an opportunity to entertain folks with a great impersonation of the famous singer.
