Graveside services for Elsie Mae Gifford will be Monday, Nov. 14, at 2:00 PM at Old Green Cemetery in Westville, Oklahoma. Pastor Charles Newton will officiate. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care.
Elsie Mae Gifford was born on November 27, 1939 in San Francisco, California to Merl and Vera Opal (Ward) Richard. She departed this life on November 11, 2016 at her home in Pryor at the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 15 days.
Elsie grew up and attended school in Westville, Oklahoma where she graduated from Westville High School. On December 3, 1958 she married the love of her life Loyd Gifford who preceded her in death in April of 1998. They made their home in San Francisco until 1971 and from there moved to Oklahoma and she worked as a caregiver for Just Clowning Around Daycare in Locust Grove.
She loved her dogs, raising birds, camping, and listening to blue grass music. She also loved her family very much and her grandchildren were her greatest joy, she loved watching them in their sporting events. She will be greatly missed by all who shared in her life.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Foley and husband John of Miami, Katrina Newton of Pryor, and Joyce Downing and husband Jack of Pryor; twelve grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren; one brother George Wattie Richard and wife June of Westville and several other cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
