A funeral ceremony honoring and remembering the life of Estella "Gail" Hinds will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Pastor Lee Sweatt will be officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Gail passed away early Friday morning, March 24, 2017 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 83.
Born July 25, 1933 near Collinsville in the Eureka School District, Gail was the daughter of William Clifford and Esther Lily (Stambaugh) Roof. She attended a one-room grade school and graduated from Claremore High School with the Class of 1951. Gail married Charles Hinds, Jr. on May 25, 1952 in Claremore.
Gail loved traveling with her husband throughout the years. They lived in Michigan, Tulsa, and eventually returned to Claremore where they retired. Professionally, Gail spent over twenty-five successful years as an accounting clerk in the electronic and oil supply industries, twenty-one of which she was gainfully employed by Telex in Tulsa in the payroll department.
Known to be devout in her faith, Gail was a member of the Seventh Day Bible Church in Tulsa.
She loved crocheting afghans as well as family's last names. This was her favorite hobby and she put together these special framed wall pieces for over 100 families. She was also known to spoil her nieces and nephews. An incredibly selfless person with a tender and loving nature, Gail had a very sincere way of making others feel special.
She had a keen ability to always remember people's names. If you knew her well, there's a good chance she once called you "baby."
Surviving family members include her husband Charles Hinds, Jr; her sister Donna Hubbard; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
