Eula passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at her home at the age of 96.
The daughter of Virgil Lee Phillips and Etta Matilda (Guthrie) Phillips was born August 20, 1920, in Huntsville, Ark. Eula attended a small country school in Hinesville, Ark. While at a local barn dance, she met the love of her life, Loyd J. Light. They were married on June 4, 1938, at the court house in Huntsville. They made their home between Arkansas and Claremore, Okla., until November 1954 when they made Claremore their permanent home. She lived in the same house for over fifty years.
When they moved to Claremore in 1954, Eula went to work at Claremore Laundry, and later worked for the Election Board. Most of her time was spent helping her husband with his work in "Loyd's Cabinet Shop". The center of her life was her family. She enjoyed caring for her home and family, growing her garden with many different flowers, and canning. Her leisure time was spent with her husband traveling in their travel trailer to places such as Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. They also enjoyed traveling to Arkansas to visit her family and twin sister.
Eula was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd; her parents; son, Jim Light; brothers: Doyle, Lee, Curtis, and Ray Phillips; and sisters: Thelma Phillips and Nola Jones.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosetta Kellehan and husband, Sidney of Claremore; daughter-in-law, Joyce Light of Claremore; her twin sister, Beulah Litterell of Huntsville, AR; brother, Kenneth Phillips of Huntsville, AR; grandchildren: Pam Davis and husband, Paul of Chelsea, Kim James-Castle and husband, Tom of Claremore, Dianne Estes and husband, Warren of Claremore, Todd Light of Claremore, and Michelene Bess and husband, Sonny of McGregor, TX; great-grandchildren: Shane Davis, Josh James, Jared Estes, Hannah Estes, Ashley Smith, Lauren Light, Tyler Light, Daniel Kistler, Heather Bess, and Coby Bess; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Joanna Guadagno of Claremore.
