Funeral services for Glenda Maxine Dewent, 88, of Owasso will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor. Burial will be at Graham Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Charlie Kymes will officiate. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care.
Glenda Maxine Dewent was born on July 8, 1928 to Bert and Dessie (Carrico) Large in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She passed away on December 29, 2016 in Catoosa at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 21 days.
Glenda grew up in Jay and later in Pryor. In 1974 she married Lee Dewent, who preceded her in death in 1998, and they made their home in the Owasso area. She worked as an apartment manager for several years.
She loved to dance, especially the western swing and the jitterbug and had won many dance contests dancing with her brother. She also enjoyed arts and crafts. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended all of their activities and they were the light of her life. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Simpson and girlfriend Linda Zitter of Owasso, Larry Simpson and wife Vonda of Alabama and John Simpson and wife Vicki of Claremore; nine grandchildren, Carissa Garrett and husband Jason, Miranda Byford and husband Lance, Gerrit Simpson and wife Jody, Curt Simpson and wife Chelsea, Jennifer Griffin and husband Andrew, Sean Simpson and wife Corina, Brandon Simpson, Clay Emerton, and Cliffton Simpson and wife Blake and several great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bert and Dessie, her husband Lee, seven brothers and three sisters.
