Funeral services for Harry Titus Bare, 91, of Pryor will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor. Burial will be at Zion Mennonite Cemetery. Pastor Duey Matthews will officiate. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care.
Harry T. Bare was born September 30, 1925 in Little River, Kansas to Mahlon and Anna Holdeman Bare. He departed this life on December 30, 2016 in Pryor, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years and 3 months.
In 1932, Harry moved to the Adair, Oklahoma area with his family. Harry, and all of his brothers but one, had served in the military during World War II. Harry was in the United States Army and served with the 412th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. He was a decorated soldier and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Harry attended Adair High School but did not graduate. He later earned his GED and went on to Northeastern State at Tahlequah to compete his Bachelors of Arts Degree. Harry then went to work for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections as a Parole Officer. He served the State of Oklahoma for 17 years and retired on April 30, 1987.
A devoted and loving son, brother, father, and grandfather, Harry will be deeply missed by all that loved him.
He is survived daughter Stacy Lyn Hawkins and two grandchildren Natalie and Andrew Hammons; two sister-in-laws June, who was married to John Bare and Theresa, who was married Benjamin Bare; he is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews Harry was preceded in death his parents, Anna and Mahlon Bare and 5 brothers, John, Richard, Melvin, Benjamin, Tillman "Tim" and 2 sisters Saloma and Katherine.
