A Celebration of Life service for Howard L. Freemyer, 78, of Tulsa will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Christ Church in Tulsa on 41st West Avenue at 11:00 AM. Pastor Anthony Harper will officiate. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care.
Howard Lee Freemyer was born on August 11, 1938 to Lewis and Alta May (McBride) Freemyer in Grove, Oklahoma. He departed this life on February 27, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 16 days.
Howard grew up in Southwest City, Missouri. When he was 17 years old his mother signed for him to join the United States Marine Corp. Upon returning from the military he made his home in Tulsa. He enjoyed playing volleyball, tennis, water skiing and other sports. He met Carole Collins while playing volleyball at the Y.M.C.A. and on December 23, 1967 they were married. They have been married for 49 years. He worked at American Association of Petroleum Geology and for Pete Marwick Mitchell and Sons accounting firm. He also worked for First National Bank, which is now Chase, for 27 years. He enjoyed early retirement beginning at the age of 52.
Howard was saved at an early age and he attended the Easton Heights Baptist Church and later West Tulsa United Methodist Church. He then joined Christ's Church in Tulsa and became an ordained deacon.
He loved his family very much and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Carole, of the home; one son, Reginald Wayne Freemyer and wife Carla; one daughter, Helen Christine Lopez Wilcox and husband Dan; also survived by Arthur James Lopez; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Ellen Sanders and one brother, Kenneth Leon Freemyer.
