Born on March 6, 1929 in New Orleans, La., the daughter of John Alfred Gebbs and Corrine (Dupaquier) Gebbs. She was raised in New Orleans and graduated from the Catholic School she attended there. Her first job was a telephone operator. In 1947 she met Charles E. Perry at a dance on Canal St. They were introduced by Morris Stevens, a navy buddy of Charles and Ione's sister, Eunice.
After the wedding the couple moved to Vernon Texas, where Charles worked with his dad at Perry Electric Construction Company. They spent a few years in Kansas and eventually settled in Altus where they lived for twenty years.
While in Altus, Ione worked as a bookkeeper at Perry Electric Construction Company. In 1985 the couple moved to Claremore to be closer to family and where Ione started her best job: nanny to her granddaughter, Corryn.
She loved to go square dancing and listening to country music. She was an avid reader and raised a vast flower garden. A loving mother who would sing her children awake every morning. She had a hilarious dry sense of humor: family outings would often end in a laughter competition between her and her children. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving family members include her three daughters: Dawn Bagnetto and her husband Tom of Wichita Falls, Texas, Carol Anderson and her husband Jim of Verdigris, Barbara McNeill and her husband Gary of Oklahoma City; one granddaughter: Corryn Anderson Willey of Kansas City, MO; one sister: Eunice Gebbs Stevens; one brother: Don Gebbs; several nieces; nephews; eight granddogs; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Ione was preceeded in death by her husband: Charles E. Perry; her parents; brothers: Alfred, John, and Clyde Gebbs; sisters: Norma Hiley, and Lynn Williams; and a nephew: Barry Hiley.
