Funeral services for Jean Miller 73 of Locust Grove will be held Tuesday 2:00 PM at Smith Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, south Rose. Reverend Travis Martin and Reverend Ray Gwartney will officiate with burial to follow in the Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday from 6-8 PM at Stephens-Key Chapel. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral & Cremation Care.
Jean Miller was born May 13, 1943 In Rose, Oklahoma to Ira and Lillie Mae (Brown) Russell. She met the face of her Lord and Savior on November 30, 2016 at her home in Locust Grove with her family by her side. Jean grew up in the Rose area and attended grade school at Smith Chapel, and went on to attend high school in Locust Grove. She was baptized in Snake Creek at the age of 10. Jean worked hard has a young woman and had picked cotton, dug potatoes, cut shad and had worked in chicken plants. She went on to become a home health provider and became very good at helping to take care of people with health problems. Jean was married to Ross Miller in 1961 and he preceded her in death in 1979.
Jean had an active part in the Locust Grove community in helping with doing an Easter display for many years. In 2004, Jean and her twin sister, Jane, took their knowledge and recreated the Easter display at Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church. Jean was a member and attended Smith Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
She enjoyed camping and fishing, but her greatest joy was planning family reunions and getting to spend time with her family. She would spend a lot of her time picking up pecans and walnuts so she could make candy with her sisters and the girls in the family that wanted to learn. All in all it would be safe to say, Jean loved her family and cherished her time with them.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons, Bob Miller and Kenny Miller, 2 brothers, Paul Russell and Wesley Russell, 3 sisters, Edith Russell, Audra Bell and Nora Miller.
She is survived by her son, Allen Dale Miller and wife Brenda of Locust Grove, 2 sisters, Edith Russell of Peggs and her twin sister Jane Moore of Rose. Although Jean had no daughters, she is also survived by Donna Fine that Jean had raised like a daughter.
