Jeanne Rebecca Wallace was born April 3, 1941 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma to Hooley and Maxine Markham. She departed this life on Friday, December 30, 2016 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 27 days.
Jeanne grew up in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. She graduated Locust Grove High School as a part of the Class of 1959. She continued her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Education. As well, she completed a Master's of Education Degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Jeanne lived in the St. Louis, Missouri area for some time. She then lived in Tulsa for 10 years and has lived in Sapulpa since 2011. She was an educator for over 25 years. Upon retirement, she continued to be involved with education by working as a substitute teacher. She and Maurice Nicholson were married March 31, 2001 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Jeanne enjoyed going shopping and to yard sales. She also loved to shop for antiques. Jeanne was a talented musician and accomplished pianist. She had a passion for reading about Oklahoma and her Cherokee heritage. Jeanne loved her family dearly. She will be remembered for always saying, "You're gonna make me cry."

Her husband Maurice Nicholson of Sapulpa, Oklahoma;
2 daughters: Rebecca Lynn Kingsford and husband Mark of England and
Robin Gayle Carter of Sapulpa, Oklahoma;
3 grandchildren: Heather Dawn Bradley and husband Jerrick of Virginia,
Elizabeth Rose Ramsey of Atlanta, Georgia, and
Meghan Nicole Carter of Tulsa, Oklahoma;
great grandchildren: Jaiden Lee Bradley, Nevan Ray Bradley, and Talulla Mae Bradley;
her mother: Maxine Markham of Locust Grove, Oklahoma;
1 sister: Joan (Markham) Bennett of Locust Grove, Oklahoma;
brother-in-law: Frank Stinson;
sister-in-law: Janet Markham;
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Jeanne was preceded in death by: her father; 1 sister: Marilyn Sinson; and 1 brother: Mark Markham.
Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Pastor Matt Franks officiated. Interment followed at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
