Born in Eucha, Okla. on March 13, 1940, Johnnie was one of ten children gifted to John and Ella Mae Fallingpot (Starr) Sunday.
He was raised and educated in his birth community and received his GED in the military. Johnnie married the love of his life Mary Kiper on Nov. 18, 1958 in a Miami, Okla. ceremony. Together they raised 5 children and Johnnie provided for his family by working in the automobile repair industry.
He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge in 1977. After his service to his country, Johnnie began working as a mechanic and that career lasted until his retirement.
Johnnie loved being a father and spending time with his family. His children still talk about the camping trips and the hours he spent playing ball with them. Johnnie was a talented musician and loved all kinds of music, especially gospel and country. He often played at nursing homes, the Claremore Veterans Center and would provide music for benefits when asked.
This appreciation of music is a part of his legacy that will live on in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Johnnie also loved to fish and when time allowed he would pack up and head back to Eucha Lake, one of his favorite fishing spots since his childhood.
This loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
