Judith (Judy) E. (Taylor) Schmitz passed away in her home in Sugar Land, Texas on March 4, 2016, at the age of 74. Judy was born to John & Vivian Taylor on Nov. 20, 1941 at her grandparents’ home on their farm near Owasso, Okla. Judy was preceded in death by her parents John and Vivian Taylor, and infant granddaughter Ashlyn Stovall. Judy is survived by daughter Lynn and husband Guy Stovall, grandchildren Guy IV and Megan Stovall, of El Campo, Texas, son Wade Schmitz and wife Beth, grandchildren Jordan, Cole and Anderson of Houston, Texas, brother Stanley Taylor and wife Barbara of Claremore, Okla., sister Cathy Horton and husband John of Pangburn, Ark., nephew Matt Horton and wife Laura of Mayflower, Arkansas, and nephew Taylor Horton, wife Beth and son Jack of Searcy, Ark. Judy attended the Lone Elm one room school through eighth grade. She graduated from Claremore High School in 1959. Judy was a proud member of the Cherokee nation. She was an active member of the Houston, Texas Bellaire Christian Church for over 30 years. While living in Arkansas, Judy attended the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs. Judy was a homemaker. She was a member of the Extension Homemakers organization in Arkansas. She will be remembered for her gifts of food and desserts, especially her biscotti cookies. Judy never met a stranger and will be missed by those whose lives she touched. Judy believed in helping others by sharing her life long battle with cancer. She hoped that doctors could learn from her how to help others. She was a 40+ year patient at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 9, 1 p.m. at the Bethany Christian Church, in Houston, Texas.
