Graveside services for L.D. Bowling will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Chouteau North Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care.
L.D. Bowling was born on July 9, 1925 to John Leslie and Nellie (Walsh) Bowling in Chouteau, Oklahoma. He passed away on February 20, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 11 days.
L.D. was a lifetime resident of Chouteau. He joined the United States Army in 1944 and served until 1946. In May of 1949 he married Clara Faye Bowling and from their union came three daughters. He was a farmer and rancher and also worked as a school bus driver for Chouteau Public Schools.
He loved old country music, especially the Grand Ol' Opry. He always had huge gardens, beehives and was an excellent carpenter. He always stayed busy working and used his time wisely and productively. He was a wonderful father and friend and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his three daughters, Carol Hanson of Pryor, Connie Jones and husband Danny of Tulsa and Lori Sampsel of Langley; six grandchildren, Kendall Hanson, Shane Hanson, Tabitha McLaughlin, Jessica Ortiz, Sumathy Sampsel and Michael Sampsel; eight great grandchildren and one sister Donna Allen of New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie, his wife, Clara, and two sisters.
