A graveside ceremony honoring and remembering the life of Louis Wayne Dirickson, II will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rice Funeral Service and Cremation Center.
Louis passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2017 at his home in Claremore. He was 64.
Born Oct. 6, 1952 in Vinita, Louis was the son of Louis and Ruth Dirickson. His father was a civil service employee, therefore the family lived in several locations across the country during Louis' childhood. Louis graduated from Midwest City High School with the Class of 1970.
Louis attended the University of Oklahoma and remained a lifelong Sooner fan.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduating with the first class of male nurses at the university. Louis began his nursing career with the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City. He then began traveling as a nurse as he enjoyed various destinations such as Las Vegas, Hawaii, and eventually California, where he established a longer tenure with St. Mary's Hospital in Irvine.
Traveling became one of Louis' greatest passions which was often accompanied by his love of photography.
Known to be quite adventurous at times, Louis was a certified scuba diver and to everyone's surprise, he sky dived on his 50th Birthday. Though he wasn't known to be a hunter, he once killed a buck on his first and only hunting trip with his brother.
He also once surprised his mother with a trip to Hawaii that she'll never forget. Louis will be sincerely missed by his family whom loved him dearly.
Louis is survived by his mother Ruth Dirickson; his brother Gary Weaver and wife Myra; two nephews: Gary Weaver II and wife Bree, and Abe Weaver; and two great nieces: Alexandra and Anna. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis.
