Funeral services for Mark Erwin, 48, Chouteau, are Tuesday, May 24, at 2 p.m. at Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor. Robin Cowan will officiate with burial following at Chouteau West Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 PM. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral & Cremation Care in Pryor.
Mark Robert Erwin was born on April 16, 1968 in Oklahoma City to Robert and Alfreda (Speaks) Erwin. He died on May 21, at his home in Chouteau.
Mark grew up and attended school in the Oklahoma City area. He attended Putnam City High School and later attended college. He moved to Chouteau in 2009 and worked as an auto repair technician for many years and also worked for RAE Corporation in Pryor as a pipefitter. He and Shanatha Freeman were married on June 14, 2011 in Inola and they made their home in Chouteau.
Mark enjoyed playing his Xbox, watching drag and boat racing, rock crawlers and was also a breeder of English bulldogs. He loved to laugh and have a good time with his friends and family and especially enjoyed the time he spent with Shanatha; he was a great husband, dad and grandpa and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Shanatha, of the home; 4 sons, Chase Erwin of California, Skylier Demereck and wife Sarah of Pryor, Shannon Demereck of Chouteau and Alexander Erwin of Knobnoster, MO; 4 daughters, Samantha Demereck-Erwin of Chouteau, MiKayla Erwin of Sedalia, MO, Stephany Erwin of Chouteau and Sloan Hathaway of LaMonte, MO; 4 grandchildren, FaithAnne Marie Erwin, Kelsie Morrison, Nik Morrison and Nat Morrison; his mother, Alfreda Kiker of Oklahoma City; 2 sisters, Carrie Erwin and Mikel Brown of Oklahoma City and Lori Ingram of Oklahoma City and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathon "JJ" Erwin, his father, Robert Erwin and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
