She was born on Aug. 18, 1937 in Bixby, Okla. to Claud and Dorothy Martin. After high school she married Joe Don Dowler. He later passed away. Together they had three sons; Leslie (deceased as an infant); Mike Dowler and wife Angel of Kellyville, Oklahoma and Mark Dowler of Claremore, whom she lived with until her death.
In 1975, she married Henry Wood; he passed away in 1994. Later she married Clarence Adamson; he passed away in 2001.
She has five grandchildren; Jerad Dowler and wife Courtney of Owasso, Lindsay Wall and husband Jared of Waynesville, Missouri, Brandon Dowler and wife Cheyenne of Kiefer, Ciarra Roe and husband Jake of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Kyle Abrusley of Sapulpa. Marva is also survived by her sister Nadean Davis of Cassville, Missouri and her brothers Earl Martin and wife Pamela of Olathe, Kansas and Wayne Martin and wife Sammye of Garland, Texas and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In the "old days", Marva and her brothers and sisters used to sing together as a family and attend church sing-fests.
Marva retired from Wal-Mart Quality Control in Bentonville, Arkansas. One of the highlights of her employment at Wal-Mart was traveling to Bixby with Sam Walton for the store opening in Bixby, because that was her home town. She worked 14 years for Seiscor Services of Tulsa.
Marva liked caring for the elderly. She was a longtime member of the Belle Vista Church of Christ, where she did volunteer work in the office. She moved to Claremore in 2004 where she was a member of the Blue Starr Church of Christ.
Marva will be missed by her friends and relatives. Her remains will be buried at Bixby Cemetery by Leslie Dowler.
