Funeral services for Mike Orange, 57, of Pryor will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Your Place Church in Pryor. Pastor Darian Rains will officiate with burial following at Graham Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral & Cremation Care in Pryor.
Michael Lee Orange was born on July 24, 1959 in Wichita, Kansas to Edward A. and Ruth M. (Willson) Orange. He passed away on August 8, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 57 years and 15 days.
Mike grew up and attended school in Wagoner. Mike worked in various jobs over the years, including Water Plant Operator for Lake Crest Water District in Wagoner, a Commercial Diver repairing and rigging deep sea oil rigs, a Licensed Paramedic who worked in Tulsa and also Pryor for 21 years. Mike was also a very active community volunteer throughout his life, he was active in Wagoner County Civil Defense, the Lake Crest Volunteer Fire Department where he was the youngest certified firefighter in the state and as a teen, bought his own ambulance to serve the community of Lake Crest, Green Country REACT, Pryor Mayes County Civil Defense, Mayes County Emergency Management where he served as assistant director for two years, City of Pryor Emergency Management, Mayes County Sheriff's Department and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a paramedic instructor for the National Guard Academy in Pryor, served with Task Force Katrina at Camp Gruber as an operations section chief and for the past 16 years has been a Storm chaser with KTUL News Channel 8 Storm Team in Tulsa. In addition to all of his work experiences, he was also personally involved with other community events and groups in Mayes County such as the Pryor High School Band where he volunteered for the past 20 years and also at Rocklahoma. To say Mike devoted his life to service for others would be a gross understatement.
He is survived by his wife, Becky of the home; two sons, Andrew Orange and Zachary Orange and wife April; one daughter, Kaylin Orange and husband Neil; one stepson, James Willyard wife Sarah; 17 grandchildren; three brothers, Kevin Orange and wife Dana, Terry Lindey and Johnny Laizure; stepmother, Maxine Orange and two step brothers, Ronnie Haddick and Rocky Haddick and wife Joyce.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Jesika Willyard.
