Mike passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. He was 69 years old.
Mike was born Nov. 25, 1948 in Claremore. He was the son of Bill and Lorene (Froman) Vickrey. Mike was raised on a small farm just outside of Claremore. There he loved running his coon dogs most every night. He loved helping his father raise cattle, and had a passion for cars throughout his childhood. Mike attended Justus school, and graduated from Claremore High School in 1967. He began his career in the heating and air conditioning business shortly thereafter. He married Roxanne Mersch on June 22, 1973 in a Rogers county ranch house on 4190 Road.
Mike established the Bar V 6 ranch in 1973. He then founded Vickrey Heat and Air in 1976. Mike was known for his work ethic. He would put in long hours between the company and his ranch. Early in his career, he set a goal to one-day own 100 head of cattle. Though he would never boast about it, the Lord blessed him with that goal tenfold. He loved his Brahman bulls and tiger striped cattle. Mike claimed that the good Lord was always looking out for him. When the heat and air business was bad, the cattle business was always good and vice versa. Vickrey Heat and Air was consistently ranked among the top contractors in North America for Rheem Manufacturing.
Mike had a great memory, and a keen ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once. He stood behind his honest work 100%. Mike was always determined to finish the job, and he never gave up.
Mike was a wonderful family man, a natural born provider, and always wanted the very best for everyone. Those family members that survive include his wife, Roxanne; his children: Jason Vickrey and wife, Jennifer, Travis Vickrey and wife ,Lacy, and Kristin Potts and husband, T.J.; his grandchildren: Sayge, Jacee, Brenlyn, Brylee, Brittin, and Emma; his sister, Marilyn Elliott and husband, Larry; his nephew Rodney Robinson and wife, Carrie; and his niece Robyn Dennis and husband Tony. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Dortha Mae.
