Graveside services for Naomi Thomason, 89, of Pryor, were held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor. Services were entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral & Cremation Care in Pryor.
Naomi Lee was born on March 7, 1927 in Shawnee to Leslie and Minnie (Stewart) Townsend. She passed away on July 27, 2016 in Pryor at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 20 days.
Naomi grew up in Oklahoma and Texas and was raised in the Morris and Haskell area. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1943. She moved to Pryor, from Wagoner, in 1962 and was very active in the community, especially the downtown area, where she was a business owner. She owned and operated Town & Country, which was a women's boutique and also Three Sisters Tea Room with her sister Viva. After she retired from her businesses, she worked at The Village Shop for many years. She had also worked as a nurse in Pryor.
Naomi was an avid runner; she ran 5k races and held the state record for her age group, 58-60 at the time, for the 1 mile distance in the Cherry Street Run in Tulsa.
She was a past member of the Presbyterian Church in Pryor and attended the First United Methodist Church in Pryor. She was also a past Pryor Cemetery Board member.
She is survived by two sons, Linn Thomason and wife Mary Lee of Broken Arrow and Lonnie Thomason of Rochester, NY; one daughter, Rebecca Thomason-West of Pryor; three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two sisters, Shirley Cole of Brookville, Kansas and Viva Woods of Pryor.
