Orville Edgar Garrison of Claremore, Okla. passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017. He was 81.
Born May 27, 1935 in Plains, Kan., Orville was the son of Orville and Odessa (Waymire) Garrison. He grew up on a farm until the sudden passing of his father in an accident.
On January 21, 1963 he married Ladessa Clayton while she was attending nursing school at Hillcrest. They were blessed with a daughter, Lisa.
Orville was employed by American Airlines for most of his career as an aircraft mechanic.
He was also a licensed pilot and spent many years flying small engine aircrafts at the Harvey Young Airport in Tulsa. The family purchased a 50 acre farm and moved to Claremore in 1976 where they raised cattle, chickens and pigs.
A man who was always ready to lend a helping hand, Orville regularly helped others. Whether it was moving or mowing, he was either hands on or was the first to volunteer his truck or any equipment that could be beneficial to another.
With a regular tee time, Orville enjoyed playing golf with his 'group' at the Gordon Golf Course. He also cherished the times he and his family devoted to traveling in their motorhome, across the country, visiting many of the National Parks and of course to attend his annual fishing trips in Canada.
Orville is survived by his daughter, Lisa Garrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ladessa (Dec. 2015).
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rice Funeral Service and Cremation Center.
