Patsy Ruth "Rowland" Laird, 89, of McAlester, died Sunday, February 11, 2018, in Tulsa at St. Francis Hospital.
In honoring her request, there will be no services held.
Patsy was born on February 25, 1928, in McGee Valley, to George and S.E. Boyd Rowland. She attended grade school at Pleasant Valley Schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1945. She then attended college at Southeastern State College in Durant, where she received her degree in education.
She married Bill Laird on December 28, 1950, in Houston, Texas. Patsy worked as a teacher at Pittsburg schools for about three years. After that she worked 30 years in Las Cruces, New Mexico, for the school system there. She then moved back to the Pittsburg County area in 1988, and again taught for the Pittsburg schools. Patsy loved reading, gardening and dancing.
Survivors included Randal and Kelly Rowland, of McGee Valley, Charlie and Rozell Rowland, of Pittsburg, Tommy "Cotton" Rowland, of Ada, John Rowland, of Atoka, and A.C. and Mary Helen Rowland, of Lubbock, Texas. A sister-in-law, Ann Rowland, of Hobbs, New Mexico, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and lots of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Laird; a sister, Mary Kellams, and by her brother, George Rowland.
