Services to honor the life of Phyllis Ann Talbert, will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Phyllis passed away Sept. 12, 2017 in Claremore. She was 87.
Born in Jay, Okla. on Feb. 3, 1930 to Carl K. Curtis and Tempa Ann (Dunaway) Curtis, Phyllis was the youngest of eight children. She was reared and educated in Jay and graduated from Jay High School in 1948. In 1949, she went to work for Southwestern Bell in Claremore, as a telephone operator, and it was there that she met the love of her life, a young R.C. Talbert who was employed at a local lumber yard.
On March 10, 1951 Phyllis and R.C. were joined in marriage in the Methodist Church in Bentonville, Arkansas, and this union was blessed with two sons, Ted and Carl. In 1963 the family moved to Tulsa, and Phyllis was blessed to be a stay-at-home mother until her sons graduated from High School, she then she worked as office manage and partner in Talbert Construction Co., Inc.
Upon her retirement in 1987, Phyllis enjoyed staying home, working in her garden and traveling.
Phyllis attended and was a faithful member of the First Methodist Church in Jay, and accepted the Lord as her personal savior and was baptized.
After her wedding, she joined Memorial Heights Baptist Church in Claremore, and after the move to Tulsa, the family became members of Berean Baptist Church.
This loving wife, mother and sister will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Phyllis is survived by her son: Ted Talbert and wife Sandy; her sister-in-law, Ruth Beard; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband R.C.; a son Carl; her brothers: John, Kline, and Charles Curtis; sisters: Mary McMillin, Addie Dietrick, and Ada Stewart.
