Sally Ann Barber, 82 of Claremore, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at her home in Claremore with her family close by. She was born February 24, 1935 in Plymoth, Mich. to Jesse John Lewis Hockenberry, and Francis (Helmer) Hockenberry.
Sally was raised and reared in Michigan, and when she was a young lady her father moved the family Roger's Arkansas, for a new job position, and a young man named John Calvrin Barber followed them there On March 12, 1958 they were joined together in marriage in Eureka Springs, Ark., and they brought into their home three children. In 1969 they moved to Tulsa, and some years later to Claremore.
Sally was a retired printer, working for many years with a school photography studio. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the VFW and other places in the area, as well as fishing and she was known to play a great game of Pacman on her Atari at home. She was a great cook and was especially known for her fried chicken and mashed potatoes.
She is survived by her daughter: Olga Lynn Gowen of Sallisaw, Okla.; two sons: John Clavrin Barber, Jr. of Claremore, and Brandt Lewis Barber of Claremore; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and one brother: John Hockenberry of Claremore, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: John Calvrin Barber, Sr.; two sisters: Doris Daniels, Ruth Daughtry; and one grandson: Josh Gowen.
