A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Sherri (Rowell) Braly will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Claremore.
Sherri passed away Wednesday at her home in Claremore. She was 62.
Born April 19, 1954 in McAlester, Okla. to James Herman and Wanda (Clifton) Rowell, Sherri was reared and educated in her birth community, attending and graduating from McAlester High School with the class of 1972.
Following high school, Sherri furthered her education at the University of Oklahoma where she attained a Bachelor's in Education. It was the mid-nineties when Sherri began teaching in the Claremore Public School system.
She taught first at Project CEEP and later found her calling teaching art at Westside Elementary School.
Sherri has had a great impact on the lives of countless students during her more than 20-year career where she was still currently employed. In addition to enriching the lives of her students, she made lasting friendships with her fellow teachers and other staff at Westside.
While not at school, Sherri was pretty well up for most anything!
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, photography and painting.
Sherri liked everybody and everyone liked her in return! She was the light in any room and was the 'favorite' whether that be as teacher or Aunt — you name it.
Sherri is survived her children: daughter, Sarah Smith and her husband, Jesse; son, Matthew Braly and his fiancé, Kaitlin Hocutt; the father of her children and her dear friend, Eric Braly all of Claremore; brother, Terry Rowell and wife, Cheryl of Tulsa; sister, Jeri (Rowell) Ireland of Oklahoma City; two sisters-in-law, Cathy Rowell of Broken Arrow and Jimmie Rowell of Savanna. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and one grandbaby on the way — whom Sherri was excitedly awaiting the arrival of and already started buying things for.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers: Larry and Gary and a nephew, Andrew.
