Shirley M. Mowery, 76, of Sunbury, joined our Lord in Heaven on Feb. 12, 2018, at the Sunbury Hospital.
She was born July 26, 1941, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Francis Ada Heller. She was married to Albert Mench for five years and then Kenneth Bower for 11 years. She found true love in the late Alfred L. Mowery whom she married on May 17, 1981.
Shirley attended Sunbury High School.
She was a nurses aide at the Selinsgrove Center for many years and finished up in nursing home care.
Shirley is a survivor of breast cancer and a member of the Eagles, Sunbury, where she was on the women's dart team.
She is survived by three sisters and two brothers, Deb Danley of Northumberland, Dean Mowery of Shamokin Dam, and Sheila Arnold of Sunbury, Robert Heller of Sunbury, and Garry Heller of Illinois; children, Albert Mench of Shamokin, Wanda Cashman of Flordia, Keith Bower of Sunbury, Rickey Mench of Sunbury, and Kenneth Mench of Danville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters, Kenneth Heller, Elwood Eugene Heller, Louis Bickel, Judy Brown, Linda Kipple, Margret Smith, and Patrica Sokolsky; one daughter, Carlene Mitchell; one granddaughter, Crystal M. Scholl-Gordon; one great-grandson, Tony School; and one great-great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Scholl.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 10:30.
Interment will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
