Thomas "Tom" Marler was born December 22, 1929 in Colbert, Oklahoma to Lois and Edna (Hurst) Marler. He departed this life on December 10, 2016 at the age of 86 years 11 months and 18 days.
Tom grew up, went to school and spent his younger years in the Fanshawe, Oklahoma area. He married the love of his life, Faye Herrel on November 10, 1951 in Campbell, California. To that marriage, two children, a son and daughter were born.
Tom moved his family to the Mayes county area near Adair in 1959. After being hired by the Pryor Police Department, Tom was required to live inside the city limits, so he and Faye moved to Pryor where they have lived since. Tom had driven truck off and on for most of his life. He had driven for Ellsworth Trucking, Chemical Express, Red Ball and Western Cartage to name a few.
Tom was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God in Pryor. He had served the church as a Deacon and had also worked in keeping the church grounds maintained and looking good. Tom enjoyed gardening and being outdoors so helping at the church seemed to come natural. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and was also a very accomplished mechanic.
Tom loved his family dearly. He enjoyed family gatherings, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A loving husband, dad and grandpa, Tom will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Bill.
He is survived by his wife, Faye of the home; Daughter, Sharon Woodard of Bartlesville; Son, David Marler of Pryor; 4 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren and one brother James Marler of Pocola.
