Wallace Gene French, Sr., 72, of the Hollybrook Community of Bland, VA, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, December 4, 2017 from Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 7, 1945 in Bland County, VA, the son of the late Mitchell McKinley & Bertie Saunders French.
He had a non-wavering faith and attended church at the Wilderness Lighthouse Church of the Lord Jesus Christ for almost 40 years. He enjoyed collecting coins and talking on the C. B. radio as "Alley Cat". He also enjoyed volunteering his time at the community center cutting grass.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Ramsey French, his brothers, Hubert McKinley French and John French and his sisters, Shirley Cregger, Betty Patton and Thelma Sutphin.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Wallace Gene French, Jr.; his daughters & sons-in-law, Vickie & John Holt, Anita & David Sexton, Jr. and Melissa Taylor; his sister, Edna Conley; seven grandchildren, Alli Surratt, Joshua Scott, Faith Scott, Noah Taylor, Marshall Armstrong, Hadran Taylor and Mason Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Rife, Travis Rife and Hunter Surratt; two special nieces, Lynne Conley and Darlene Conley; special friends, Bobby Myers, John & Kay Johnson and Bobby Lester.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wilderness Lighthouse Church of the Lord Jesus Christ with Rev. Arnold Clark, Rev. Tommy Ramsey and Duane Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery, Bland.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the church from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
