William's Story

William W. Pray Sr., 67, of the Fuller Road, Peru, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at his residence.
He was born in Plattsburgh, Sept. 20, 1950, the son of William L. and Alberta Darlene Klein. He was raised by his father and step-mother, Viola (Rock) Pray. Bill, the eldest of 12 children, grew up in Keeseville where from a young boy he worked alongside his father and siblings on the Pray Family Farm. He graduated from Keeseville High School in 1968.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1975.
He had a love of the outdoors and had many fond memories of hunting and fishing with his father, brothers and sons. He enjoyed telling stories of his past. Bill loved to have fun, laugh and tell stories. From his fun loving "I WANNA ROCK" days to his later years where his greatest joys came from spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and many friends.
Bill was a lifelong contractor. He participated in the building of many local homes throughout the years. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club.
Left to cherish the memory of Bill are, his children, William "Billy" Pray Jr., Jamie Pray-Cross and her companion, Lloyd Coleman, Hayden Nolan and his companion, MaryBeth Finnegan, Cassidy Pray and her companion, Dan Giddings Jr., Monica McKiernan and her companion, Brandon Rivers, and Christopher Binggeli and his companion, Danielle Grasta; grandchildren, Darren Lafountain, Courtney Pray, Shyenne Lafountain, Riley Stone, Lauren Cross, Makayla Downing, Angelina Nolan, Maleah Lambert, Declan Nolan, Kinzley Lambert, Madalee Cahill, Amelia Nolan, and Lahni Coleman; unborn grandson; great-grandson, Beckett Wells; his mother, Viola Pray; siblings, Robin Pray, Russell Pray (Linda), Charlene Pray, Brian Pray, Cindy Pray, Brenda Nolan (Darwin), Joe Pray (Becky), Danny Pray (Dawn); first wife, Wanita Drake-Pray; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved blue nose pit, Buster.
In addition to his father; he was predeceased by his daughter, Tracy Lee Pray; son, Darren Pray; sister, Pam Thomas; brothers, Allen and Alfred Pray; birth mother, Alberta Darlene Savoka; and Becky Nolan and Christine Dobbs.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Military honors will follow at 3 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. An open reception will follow at the Keeseville VFW Post 1505.
Donations in his memory may be made to his family to be appropriated at their descression or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
