Cathey's Story

Text size

A celebration service honoring and remembering the life of Cathey J. Swan will be 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Claremore.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of DeLozier Funeral Service. Cathey passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016. She was 57.
One of two children gifted to Reginald and Margaret (Srader) Pavey, Cathey was born in Tulsa, Okla. on June 18, 1959.
She was raised and educated in Claremore graduating with the Class of 1977.  During her school years Cathey was active in the Rogers County 4H Club and the Rogers County Young Stockman's Association. When she had children it was no surprise that they were active in both of these organizations as well. Cathey was also a part of the Claremore Lady Zebra basketball team, proudly sporting number eleven.
It was mentioned by friends, that when she took the court she became quite the scrapper, much to the dismay of anyone she guarded. After graduation, Cathey continued her education and received an Associate's Degree from RSU and also her cosmetology license.
On April 15, 2005, Cathey married the love of her life, Rick Swan, in Claremore, OK.  Cathey excelled at being a wife, mother and grandma. She loved taking care of her husband, her children and their home.
Rick said, "She was a tremendous wife and my biggest supporter in all that I did."
Cathey was a wonderful cook and expressed her love for her family by preparing their favorite dishes, even if she didn't like them herself. She loved the lake, and spending time with Rick on Grand was some of her most favorite times.
There was also a side of Cathey that anyone who knew her well would tell you, if she gave her word you could consider it done. She wanted others to be dealt with honestly and ethically. This is a legacy that will live on in the lives of her children.  She also valued friendships and if you had the privilege of being in that select group; you could rest assured she would always have your back and best interest at heart. Cathey was truly one of the most beautiful, trendy, and sweetest people you could ever know.
This loving daughter, wife, mother, grandma, and friend will be missed by all the lives she touched.
Cathey is survived by her husband Rick, parents, Reginald and Margaret Pavey, brother, Steve Pavey and wife Julie, children, Brandon Reginald Foster and wife Ashleigh, and Kevin John Tyler Foster and wife Elissa,  grandchildren, Madison Page, Cashyn Reign and Adley Mae Foster, mother and father-in-law, Harley and Dorothy Swan.
Cathey was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arther Gerome and Patence Eliza Pavey, and Willis Eugene and Beatrice Lillian Srader.
