Darlene Kirkley died at the age of 76 in Catoosa, Oklahoma on Saturday, January 30, 2016. She was born on January 1, 1940 in Chelsea, Oklahoma to her parents Wyly Thomas Mitchell and Bonnie Sue (Rudd). Darlene was a hard worker and was employed with Zebco for twenty one years and three months before retiring. Soon after being retired she decided she still wanted to work and started working for Zebco again until she no longer could work anymore. Her biggest hobby and pastime in life was fishing…as Darlene would say “she loved it!!” If she wasn’t on Lake Fort Gibson fishing you could find her playing a good game of dominos, gardening or just enjoying the outdoors. She was a woman that was full of life that enjoyed being able to get around and help other people. Family was always very important to her and she cherished the moments that she was blessed to have with them. It would be safe to say that in Darlene’s seventy six years of life she faced many battles but she was a fighter and did her best to fight each and every one of them until she could no longer fight anymore. She was preceded in death by her parents Wyly and Bonnie Mitchell and her husband Harold Leroy Kirkley. Those left to cherish her sweet memories include step son Paul Kirkley of Wylie, Texas, step daughters Vicki Lynn Holland of Catoosa, Oklahoma and Lisa Freeman of Henryetta, Oklahoma, sister Pearline Oakley of Owasso, Oklahoma and brother in law Herschel Kirkley and his wife Sharon of Chouteau, Oklahoma. Darlene is also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Darlene will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at the Howe cemetery in Howe, Oklahoma with Life Celebrant Anita J. Shipman officiating. Services have been entrusted to Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
