Eldonna's Story

Text size

Following a short illness, Eldonna Lee Lincoln passed away the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, in Tulsa. She was 74.
Always in motion, Eldonna thrived under pressure and according to her family, "there wasn't anything she decided to do that she didn't finish." She made clothing for her children when they were young. She learned to snow-ski In her mid fifties. She taught herself how to quilt and in two years had produced over 20 quilts. When faced with free time, it wasn't' unusual for her to to quickly plan a dinner for half a dozen people, often presenting a dish she made for the first time.
Born November 19, 1942 in St. Charles, Mo., the oldest child of Eldon Morton Browning and Anna Lee (nee Borrowman) Browning, Eldonna grew up on a farm near the community of Rockport, just inside of Illinois from Missouri in the bottomland of the Mississippi River.
She attended school in Pleasant Hill, Ill. and graduated Salutatorian of her class. After High School, she went to work for United Airlines at their offices in San Francisco, which was quite a change from her graduating class of twenty.
A year later, she transferred to the Chicago area, where she met her late husband, Gerald A. Stull, with whom she had her three sons: Jeff, Christopher, and Jason. They would move to Oklahoma in 1977, where Eldonna worked for many years as a secretary at Stuart Roosa Schools in Claremore, and as benefits coordinator with the Kinark Corporation in Tulsa.
Eldonna married Ross Lincoln of Bristow on September 5th, 1998 after a one-year courtship, and they made their home in Claremore. They shared a passion for gardening and together they became Master Gardeners, accredited by Master Gardeners Association of Rogers County.
She had beautiful gardens of her own, which were twice shown to the public during Claremore's annual Safenet Garden Tour. She also did her own landscaping (with the "backs" of her sons), she dismantled and improved the brickwork leading into her home, she installed ceramic tile in her home, and even explained to the cabinetmaker exactly how to finish her new cabinets.
But her most important consideration was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her late husband: Gerald A. Stull.
She is survived by her husband: Ross Lincoln of Claremore; her sons, Jeff Stull of Claremore, Christopher Stull of Missouri, Jason Stull and his wife Autumn of Tulsa; her stepchildren, Ross Lincoln of Los Angeles, and Kimberly Linden of Coppell, Texas; her sister, Peggy Biggs of Springfield, Illinois and her brothers, Mark Browning of Osage Beach, Mo., and Steve Browning of Palm Springs, CA; her two dogs, Pepe Le Poof and Odie, and her cat Princess.
She will be sorely missed by all of them.
A graveside ceremony honoring and remembering Eldonna will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore.
