George was raised on a farm in Illinois and later his family moved to Oklahoma. In his early years, he worked on the family dairy farm that was south of Tulsa near Glenpool. He attended school and graduated from high school in Elmwood, Illinois. Not long after graduating, his family sold the dairy farm and moved near Locust Grove and started a cattle operation. On the weekends he and his family enjoyed boating at the lake. He later moved to Grand Lake and has been there for nearly fifty years. George loved working on boats and found a job as a mechanic at Port Tyler. Soon after, he started his own businesses, Ship or Shore Marine Service and Custom Yacht Services on Grand Lake. He was well known and loved amongst the Grand Lake community. He enjoyed taking his cruiser the "Katy Did" out on the water and was known for starting the Dripping Springs Moon-Off.
On November 21, 2014 he married Jo Ann Henry in South Padre Island, Texas and they made their home in Langley. He and Jo enjoyed their life on Grand Lake and also loved to travel. George's greatest joy in life was his family whom he loved dearly. His love and kindness will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
