Services to honor and celebrate the life of James Ray Troxell, Sr. will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening. Mr. Troxell passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 80. James Ray Troxell, Sr. was born April 24, 1935 in Sapulpa, Okla. to Mr. James William and Mrs. Sally Savannah (Barrett) Troxell. He received his education in Sapulpa where he attended high school. Following, he entered the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country. He married Jo Ann Moore on April 3, 1958 in Newport News, Virginia. Their marriage lasted 50 years until Jo Ann’s passing in October of 2007. The couple had three children: Jeanine, David and James, Jr. James, Sr. enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering with anything, especially cars. He spent a career as a welder and short-haul truck driver. On March 16, 2008, he married Dorothy Pulatie and the couple resided in Glenpool. James, Sr. is survived by: wife, Dorothy Troxell of the home; his daughter, Jeanine Easterling and husband, Ron; his sons, David Troxell and James Troxell, Jr. and wife, Leta all of Claremore; sisters, Janet Bradburn of Ft. Worth, Texas and Carolyn Mendel of Sevierville, Tenn.; aunt, Hazel Boaz of Sapulpa; three grandchildren: Nathaniel Easterling, Melissa Easterling and Anita Keely; two great-grandchildren: Hunter and Lillian; step-son, Bill Pulatie and wife, Connie of Glenpool and step-grandson, Donny Ingle and wife, Tabitha and step-great-grandchildren: Braden, Dallas, Cameron and Eva all of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Jo Ann Troxell and a brother, Gary Troxell.
