Jerry Michale Taylor was born on October 16, 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Eli R. and Jesse Jewel (Ashworth) Taylor. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2017, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 4 days.
Jerry was a graduate of the Locust Grove High School class of 1958. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Jerry had lived in Stilwell, Oklahoma and Gentry, Arkansas for some time, until his move to Locust Grove in 2001. For the last 2 years, he lived at the Veteran Center in Claremore. Jerry retired as an auto part salesman having worked for over 30 years. He attended the Peggs Community Church.
Jerry loved sports, especially OU Football. He also loved to go fishing. He enjoyed watching his son race and was a huge fan of NASCAR. Jerry had a passion for animals, taking in any strays that he could care for. Jerry loved his children dearly and treasured any time spent with them all. He will be missed dearly.
Jerry is survived by:3 sons: Michael Dean Taylor of Rose, Oklahoma, Brian Allen Taylor and wife Tina of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Jeffery Vincent Taylor and wife Rosa of Pryor, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Kristin, Stephanie, Kendall, and Ashley;3 great grandchildren;1 sister: Nancy Burns and husband Jerry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 1 uncle: Terry Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by: his parents: Eli and Jesse Taylor; his step-mother: Edith "Peggy" Taylor; and 1 infant brother.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Monday, Feb. 20,at the Peggs Community Church in Peggs. Rev. Rex Henderson will officiate. Interment will follow at the New Home Cemetery Peggs.
