Graveside services for Lee Hamilton Gates, 89, of Broken Arrow will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove. Chaplain Randy Shaddox will officiate. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care.
Lee Hamilton Gates was born on November 20, 1927 in Owasso, Oklahoma to Oscar J. and Mary E. (House) Gates. He passed away on February 16, 2017 in Broken Arrow at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 27 days.
Lee grew up in the Locust Grove area and lived there most of his life. He has lived in the Eufaula area for the last twelve years near his sister. He was a farmer by trade and he enjoyed being a country boy and raising cattle. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to spend time with several of his good friends. He was a wonderful friend and was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Long and Zelda Chandler both of Broken Arrow; one nephew Jim Long of Las Vegas, Nevada; two nieces Holly Chandler of Tulsa and Cindy Crocker and husband Steve of Tulsa; two great nieces Megan Luttrull and husband Terry and their daughter Lorean of Eufaula and Tamara Long and her Gerris and Rashawn of Stigler and one great nephew Joe Long of Eufaula.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James Gates and Raymond Gates and two nephews Steven and Curtis Younger.
