Lee Roy McElwain, 86, died Feb. 19, 2016 in Collinsville, Okla. Lee Roy was born Dec. 15, 1929, at home in Claremore, Okla. to Dallas Allen and Etta Mae (Sumter) McElwain. He attended Claremore High School in Claremore, Okla. He continued his education at The University of Oklahoma after receiving a football scholarship. He enjoyed many sports. His father taught him how to fish at a young age and it remained his passion. He is survived by his daughter Kay Lindsey and husband Buddy Bittle of Tulsa, sister Mary Long and husband Bob of Broken Arrow, granddaughter Leslee Ayers of Wyoming, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, Betty McElwain of Owasso and foster son James Harris of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Allen and Etta Mae (Sumter) McElwain, brother Jimmie Allen McElwain, son Paul Leslie McElwain, grandson Kevin Wayne Lindsey and granddaughter Kerry Elizabeth Lindsey. Services are Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. Viewing is from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Rice Funeral Home, Claremore, Okla.
