Wanda's Story

Wanda Elizabeth Brown, 83, Owasso, passed away on Wednesday, May 18. She was born on September 12, 1932 in Sperry; the daughter of Vernon and Leona Beaty. Wanda married Bob Brown on February 8, 1952 in Sperry; and together raised one son, Robert. They lived on a farm for many years and she enjoyed spending time there. Some of her best times, was teaching her grandsons about farm life and animals; especially snakes. She had a special passion for art; and was a self employed artist for many years. Wanda loved to use oil, acrylics, and Charcoal; focusing on landscape and portraits. She was a locally acclaimed artist and had one of her Native American paintings hanging in the White House for a time. She was also a member of the Oklahoma Society of Impressionistic Artists, based out of Oklahoma City. She leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services for Wanda are at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, with Rev. David Jarboe officiating. She is survived by her son, Robert Brown and wife Stephannie of Pryor; grandson, Christopher Brown; brothers, John Beaty and wife Kathy of Lakeland, Florida, Vernon Beaty and wife Bonnie of Owasso, and David Beaty and wife Sylvia of Douglas, Georgia; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Leona Beaty, her husband, Robert Brown; grandson, Dex Brown; and 2 sisters.
