Heaven gained a new angel on March 28, 2024, when Faye went to be with the Lord. She was a loving, caring and passionate wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was full of grace. She was as beautiful inside as she was outside and loved by all. Faye was 92.

Faye was born in Miller County, Franklin Township, Missouri on January 11, 1932, to Claude A. Brown and Margarette E. (Clark) Brown. During high school, she worked as a telephone switchboard operator. She graduated from Eldon High School in May 1949 at the age of 17.

On November 11, 1950, Faye married the love of her life, Jack Shorter, in Boone County, Arkansas. To celebrate their vows, Jack proudly pushed his new bride down the street in a wheelbarrow, showing her off to the townsfolks! They built their life together and had four remarkable children: Jack Dean, David, Michael and Joyce. During their married life of 63 years before Jack passed, they made their home primarily in Claremore, Oklahoma. Although her passion was a homemaker taking care of her family, she also worked for Dr. Patterson as his dental assistant. She was actively involved in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and met many lifelong friends through this organization.

Faye was a very involved supporter of her children and grandchildren in all their activities. She always encouraged them whether it was football, basketball, baseball, softball, dance or cheerleading. Adoringly referred to as Nanie, she had many, many shopping outings with her grandchildren, especially those back-to-school trips, making sure they had everything they needed and "wanted." She always made her home a welcoming and inviting place for family and friends to visit. Her house was easily recognized at Christmastime with the lighted Santa that decorated the porch. And, of course, she had many dearly loved cats during her lifetime, especially Pumpkin and Stormy, her very latest.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, sister Annie and son David.

Faye loved unconditionally and was dearly loved by her family and friends. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She is survived by brother Don Brown; her children Dr. Jack Shorter and wife Alma, Mike Shorter and wife Laurie, Joyce Kerns and husband Scot; grandchildren Amber Day and husband Michael Day, Matthew Freeman and wife Whitney, Rachel Hill, Mallorie Woodruff and husband Geoffery, Adam Shorter and wife Heather, Macie Kaase and husband Trevor, and Mabrie Yarnell and husband Dayden; great grandchildren Dilon, Cadence, Brayden, Henry, Zakry, Liam, Harlee, Fynnley, Ellison, Marlow, Quinn, Ivy, Rylan, Jack, Owen, Dawson and Hadley; several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pall bearers: Amber Day, Matthew Freeman, Rachel Hill, Mallorie Woodruff, Adam Shorter, Macie Kaase and Mabrie Yarnell.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in memory of Faye Shorter and her love of rescued animals to Oklahoma Humane Society, an organization that helps animals find their new and forever homes: https://okhumane.org/donate
