Services to celebrate and remember the life of Bryan Eugene Stiger, long time Claremore resident and business owner, will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Cedar Point Church in Claremore. Burial will follow with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore. Bryan went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was 92.
Born in White City, Kansas on November 13, 1931 to John Franklin and Lora Etta (Chambers) Stiger, Bryan was raised and educated in Rogers County and graduated from Sequoyah High School with the class of 1950. Bryan faithfully served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 until he received his honorable discharge in 1954. In January of 1956, in Claremore, OK, Bryan married the love of his life, Mary Inez Pepper. A marriage that lasted for over 40 years until her sudden passing in August of 1996. Their union was gifted with seven children.
Bryan was a man that had a mind for business and invention. In his younger days, Bryan worked as a machinist for North American and Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa. He sold welders and worked for Stark Brothers Landscaping. Bryan also sold real estate at John Williams Co. in Claremore. Having the determination and mind set not to work for others, Bryan began building a few houses. He went on to get his brokers license and opened Claremore Real Estate; a business that is still in Claremore today. He partnered with a buddy, Harold Yost, and opened the Okie Bug store in Claremore. Perhaps though; working his leases in the oil field was what brought him the most satisfaction in life. Bryan with the help of his children worked those leases right up until his health would not allow him to do it anymore. On the invention side, Bryan excelled there as well. According to his family he invented and patented a bathtub for burn victims.
In his youth, Bryan hunted for small game as well as played basketball. Bryan and his wife enjoyed bowling together. On many afternoons he could be found at Ernie's playing dominoes. He also enjoyed going to the horse races. As his health began to decline, Bryan filled his days listening to country music, especially his favorite, Hank Williams. No story of Bryan would be complete unless you mentioned his love of family, but especially his grandchildren. Many would say Gramps' smile was the brightest when they were around.
A man that has touched so many lives and has left a legacy that will live on in the lives of his family and friends. Bryan is survived by his children, Marcella Taylor, and husband, Mike of Pryor, OK, Mindy Stiger of Tulsa, OK, Mark Stiger of New Braunfels, TX, Merry Jayne Keller and husband, Tommy of Tulsa, OK, Michael Stiger and wife, Charla of Tulsa, OK, Maureen Stiger of Tulsa, OK, Marjorie Parry and husband, Steve of New Canaan, CT, grandchildren, Matt Stiger, Melissa Wynn, Mark Stiger Jr., Dustin Stiger, Mason Keller, Christy Stiger, Misty Stiger, Dylan Parry, Rhys Parry, great grandchildren, Lily, Coca, Micah, John, Mary, Parker, Jackson, Avery, brother, Richard Stiger and wife, Eunice of Tulsa, OK, brother-in-law, Luther Pepper and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary, grandson, Jonathan Stiger, sister, Jane Duncan, brothers, John, and Bill Stiger.
