Claremore - Carl Don Willis, a cherished pillar of the Claremore community, passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on September 30, 1938, Claremore, Oklahoma. Carl's life was one of dedication, love, and spirited conversation.
Carl's journey began as the 10th child in a bustling household of 16 siblings. His early life in Claremore set the stage for a man who would become known for his unwavering work ethic and generous spirit. Carl's hands helped shape the local landscape. He assisted Ed Galloway with his work on the Totem Pole at the Totem Pole Park. He owned and operated his own filling station in Chelsea, Oklahoma. Besides this, Carl also drove a dump truck and a big rig, and loved farm work.
As we bid farewell to Carl Don Willis, we celebrate a life lived with love at its core. Carl was married to Betty Gossett for 37 years and his love for her was undeniable. Carl leaves two remaining siblings John Willis and Eunice Shaffer, children Ladonna, Thomas and Elizabeth, step children Ginger, Vicki, grand children and great grandchildren. His family will continue to honor his memory through their own acts of love and generosity. Carl's spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished in the hearts of many.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on May 18, 2024 from 11am-1pm at "the homeplace." Inurnment will follow at Washington Cemetery.
