Carol Sue Rawding Obituary

Carol Sue Rawding was born on March 11, 1951, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to William R. Hellen, Sr, and Irish O. (Pippen) Hellen. Her educational journey began at Blackwell High, from which she graduated in 1968. She pursued further education at Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, where she excelled and earned a place on the Dean's Honor Roll. She went on to attend Tulsa University and later obtained her associate's degree in law justice careers from Rogers State College in 2006.


On July 7, 1969, Carol married Steven Erick "Rick" Rawding at the First Presbyterian Church, in Blackwell, Oklahoma.


Her professional life was marked by significant contributions in both the legal and aerospace fields. Carol began her career at the Summerlin, Williams and Zacharias Law Firm in Claremore, before transitioning to Hall Estill Law Firm in Tulsa following Mr. Zacharias' move there. Her next adventure was the aerospace industry, where she worked for Howmet Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney. Carol concluded her professional career with her retirement in 2018 from Glen Group in Claremore.


Known for her civic-minded spirit, Carol became an active member of Beta Sigma Phi, an international service organization. Through her participation, she forged lasting friendships and cherished the camaraderie with her fellow sorority sisters. She also played an important role within her community as a member of the Presbyterian Church.


Carol passed away on December 14, 2024, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with her family by her side. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; we celebrate a life filled with achievements, love for her family, and a dedication to her work that left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and warmly remembered.


Those family members who survive Carol include her son, Erick Rawding, (Lavonne Stiger); her brother, Bill Hellen, Jr.; her grandchildren, Brett Shaw, Braden Rawding, and Breanna Rawding; her nieces, Elisabeth Wagenblast and Erica Hellen; as well as her great niece and nephews, Ashley Wagenblast, Zachary Regal, and Osborn Seibert. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, William R. Hellen, Sr. and Irish (Pippen) Hellen, and her husband, Steven Erick "Rick" Rawding.
