Darrell Wayne Baldwin, 64, of Stamps,AR passed away, October 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born March 8, 1959 in Claremore, OK, to George Washington "G.W." Baldwin and Darline Imogene (Freeman) Baldwin. Born the youngest of 7 siblings, he was better known as "Buzzy" a nickname given to him by his Niece, Courtney, when she was a little girl.
Darrell was raised and educated in Claremore, OK. After high school, he worked a few odd and end jobs including Wood Manor Nursing Home, and Get 'N' Go. In the mid 80s, Darrell made the decision to study Mortuary Science in Dallas, TX. He took pride in taking care of families and their loved ones in their delicate time of need. For 40 years, Darrell served funeral homes in the Claremore, Tulsa, Pryor, and Tahlequah area of Northeastern Oklahoma. Darrell had a reputable reputation in the funeral home industry. It was no surprise, when Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR, chose to recruit Darrell. In June of 2013, he decided to make Stamps, AR his new home and began working for the Smith Funeral Home. This is where Darrell would work for the remainder of his funeral director career, making the decision to retire in 2018 when his health started to decline.
One day in late, December 2013, while at work, Darrell met the love of his life, Angelia Phillips. It was love at first sight for Angelia and Darrell. He would later describe how "sparks flew" when he first looked into Angelia's eyes. They knew they were destined to be together forever. Angelia and Darrell joined in marriage, June 27, 2014, in a small ceremony in Stamps, AR. They enjoyed trying out new restaurants, dining at old favorites, and just simply spending time together.
Darrell was a family man. He was a proud father to his Son, Dane and "Baby Girl" Deanda, and even prouder "Pappa" to Kennedy and Brady. He loved making memories with his children and grandchildren. He always made sure they were entertained when visiting. Darrell shared his love of history with his kids by telling them random history facts then stating "that was your history lesson for the day." He also loved classic cars. Cadillacs being one of his favorites. At one time he had an extensive die-cast model car collection. In recent years, Darrell and Angelia had the joy of babysitting their Great Nephews Evan and Mason. The twins would affectionately refer to Darrell as "Cowboy".
