Dixie was born on April 3, 1935, in Talihina, Oklahoma to Lee

and Myrtle (Anderson) Stafford.

Crawford Stafford, Lester Earl

Stafford, Lee Stafford Jr. and Clarence Stafford.

Dixie is survived by her husband Jack of the home, her sons John

Owen and Debbie, Mark

Owen and Donna, Brad Owen and Theresa Trafton, and Kevin Owen

and Nichole Burgess, her

sister Sue Evelyn Nichols and husband Odean, her grandchildren

Scott Owen and Tassia,

and Trenton, Phillip Owen

and Julia, Tyler Owen and Gina, Cole Owen and Olivia, Jake Owen

and Hannah, and Kyle Owen

and Kristy, 13 great grandchildren, along with numerous other

relatives and loved ones.

Dixie was steadfast in her faith and the love of her family. She

was proud of her four boys, all

who knew that she was their most fervent advocate and

encourager. Jack, her husband of 68

years, was her faithful companion who took care of her for many

years after her health

declined. She never complained about her situation and remained

mentally alert and a joy to

her family. She loved all of her family intensely and spoke

frequently of joining us all in

heaven.

She was very proud of her Choctaw heritage. She was also very

proud of her accomplishments

in education while working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She

was the architect of a

program that has benefited countless preschool children and will

positively affect the lives of

American Indians for generations to come.
