Garland  Brunson
Garland R. (Guy) Brunson, a retired teacher from Tulsa Public Schools passed from this life on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at the age of 85, at his home in Catoosa, OK.
Guy was born on April 14, 1934, in Inola, OK. He graduated from Northeastern State University with a Master of Science in Education degree and taught special needs students for more than 30 years. He was an avid historian, storyteller, and genealogist, tracing his family's lineage back more than three centuries. He also enjoyed music and writing. For a period of time, he wrote a column entitled "Along the Dusty Trail" for the Inola newspaper, The Independent, which included stories of memories from times of the past. While he was able, Guy could always be found playing his guitar or mandolin at church or any family gathering.
He is survived by his daughter Rhonda (Dave) Franklin of Clackamas, OR; son Randy (Teresa) Brunson of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters Gina Fernandez of Tulsa, OK, Stephanie (Doug) Sandridge of Bixby, OK, Sarah (Dylan) Carney of Bixby, OK, and Marty (Justin) Gates of Canton, GA; grandsons Parker Brunson of Arnold, MO and Justin (Courtney) Brunson of Decatur, GA; siblings Joyce (Bill) Hinds, Marilyn (Larry) Trude, and Lavell (Lavetta) Brunson all of Claremore, OK as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Odes and Ora Hopkins Brunson, his wife Deloris Joyce Brunson, his son Rocky Jay Brunson, and grandson Micah Anthony Fernandez, as well as siblings Pauline Lee, Maggie Hazelwood, Evelyn Krigbaum Reynolds, Katherine Anderson, Mike Brunson, and Jimmy Brunson.
Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Inola, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faithful Servant Memorial Fund, or Bible Advocate Press, online at or by mail General Conference Church of God (Seventh Day), P.O. Box 33677, Denver, CO 80233.

Loved Uncle Guy and will never forget the love he had for Nelson and me,and the wedding he gave to us. He was so gentle, kind and loving always with words HUMOR and advice. Heaven has gained a great gift a our loss. Prayers of comfort to the family a friends.
