Gregory Dean Morton Obituary

Gregory Dean Morton passed away at Summitt Hospital in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee on September 12, 2024.

He was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on May 12, 1965. He is survived by wife Shannon and son Tyler and

daughter Kilie. Also surviving are his parents Bob and Alice Morton of Chelsea and his sister Deann and

husband Darrell of Welch, Okahoma.

Greg graduated from Chelsea High School where he played football and was active in FFA, earning his

State FFA degree. While attending Claremore Junior College he began working for the local country band,

Stonehorse, formerly known as The Country Cousins where he learned how to mix the sound for the

band.

A life-long avid fan, Greg attended Okahoma State University majoring in Agriculture. He continued

working for Stonehorse before branching out to other new country acts. After he became the sound

engineer for Lorrie Morgan, Greg made the move to Nashville. He later mixed the sound and became the

Production Manager for John Michael Montgomery, Jodee Messina, and Lonestar. It was with Lonestar

that he had the privilege of being a part of entertaining the troops in Iraq. He loved working in country

music and all the long-lasting friendships he made.

After Greg retired from the road and the music business he followed another passion by coaching youth

football. He loved teaching the young players, especially when his son played. His love for the game and

the boys he coached made a lasting impression on his players. He continued coaching until his health

prevented him from continuing.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Will Rogers Stampede arena in Claremore, Oklahoma on Sunday,

October 20th at 2 P.M. Greg wished to be cremated and buried with the ashes of his beloved Blue Heeler,

Cowboy alongside his grandparents at Antioch Cemetery in Custer county which will take place Monday,

October 21, 2024, at 2 P.M.
